The latest update to our Full Canvas Jacket Superpatch. Included are a few small graphics and data fixes and our latest version FCJ Control Panel that fixes a desktop resolution (sizing) issue and adds Force Feedback enabling along with multiplayer parameter settings, and other fixes. Also newly added stability fixes for the SE5 and Sopwith Snipe.

Now supports up to 1600x1200 ultra-high resolutions (for video cards that can display these higher resolutions).

RB2/3d Superpatch Cleaner for FCJ

This is a preperation tool for Full Canvas Jacket users that run the old RB2 game that theyve superpatched to 3D using Sierra's superpatch (rb3d_spr.exe). This utility will clean out and replace certain files in the Sierra superpatch that conflict or overwrite aspects of the FCJ patch. (Ver 1.2a)

Its important that all superpatched users run this utility after running Sierra's superpatch but before installing the FCJ superpatch. Download this zip file and unzip to any directory, then simply double click the rb2cleaner.exe file and follow the install directions. Users do not need to run the other exe (FCJconv.exe) this is automatically run by the rb2cleaner.exe. This is the latest Cleaner program for FCJ and fixes a number of issues with the prior version 1 cleaner.

FCJ/RB3D FAQ

 

There are a few people that have been experiencing an error message after loading the FCJ CD into their CDROM drive, it has to do with the install menu program that FCJ uses and some peoples hardware/software they have that conflicts with it. This isnt a major loss, you can still install the patch and all the various components and even view the two included text documents, the CD just wont have a fancy menu to choose things from. heres the fix;

put the cd in and let it show the error, after you escape back to your desktop open your windows explorer and go to your CD drive. There youll see some files like setup.exe and such, those are the menu files and arent part of the patch nor needed, now change to the directory on your CD named "FCJ" in there you will see the two FCJ text documents and the various iinstallations, the "plintro" text file gives you a breakdown of what the various installs are but for reference here they are again with the file names included;

1. ( PLintro.txt ) FCJ Introduction - This is the first button on the menu which lead you here to this document. It (as you may have gathered) is an introduction to PL and the FCJ patch, and makes other installation clarifications.

2. ( FCJmain.exe) Install FCJ - Self explanitory, This is the main program install. For proper patch operation its important that the user understands the two main install directory options. If you are running the original RBII, or the original RBII that has been patched up to 3d using Sierra's 3d patch, you must set your install directory to;

C:\Sierra\Redbaronii

If youve installed RB onto another drive other than your root C: drive, change the drive letter accordingly. Now, If you have the full RB3D game CD, you will install into the default directory of;

C:\Sierra\Redbaron3d

If the user fails to install the patch into the proper directory, the patch files will not end up in the correct subdirectories and therefor the FCJ patch will not function properly.

3. (FCJwind.exe) FCJ Windscreens - This secondary patch will install glass onto all the windscreens of the players planes that they fly. This was included as a seperate install to allow people who maybe fly online, have a low end system with poorer framerates, or are playing in Direct Draw, to be able to use the FCJ patch without this enhancement (it is not compatible with direct draw). If your running in Glide or OpenGlide, you will need to install this patch option if you desire to get the full effect of the entire Full Canvas Jacket patch.

4. (FCJlofx.exe) Reduced FX - These are reduced game FX (Fire, Smoke, Flak) that are smaller, and have a poorer quality to them, but can help people that are running glidos drivers on a lower end system to allow them better framerates or to deal with some graphics corruption problems (more about this in the FCJ FAQ). These are added only if a user is experiencing low framerates or visual corruption and they are not able to fully correct the problem using the included FCJ control panel app, or adjusting their OpenGlide driver .INI file settings. The main FCJ patch install already includes the high quality versions of these FX.

5. (FCJnosky.exe) Sun/Moon Remover - Here again is another failsafe for OpenGlide users that may be experiencing frame rate problems with their RB3D game. Some OpenGlide users must disable sunglare in the RB graphics configuration screen to achieve acceptable framerates, if the player is still experiencing slowdowns whenever the sun, moon, or sun's solar rings are in their view, this little patch will remove them all and correct the problem.

6. (FCJlores.exe) Lo-res Terrains - These are lower resolution terrains, The main FCJ install comes with high quality terrains already included in the install. If your a user that is running a low end machine and find your framerates could be better, or if you fly online and need a boost in your framerates, then give this install a try. After youve installed the main FCJ patch, run this install directly over it. *Warning* These terrains are smaller in size than the standard terrains, they will not have the quality nor definition of our standard terrains.

7. (FCJFAQ.txt) FCJ/RB3D FAQ - This is the FCJ/RB information FAQ document. Its very important that users thouroughly read through this document, there is information on the FCJ patch, tips, tricks, and troubleshooting help for FCJ and RB3D, OpenGlide driver information/setup details, and other various info, including details about the Full Canvas Jacket Control Panel application that users will be using to setup and launch their RB games with.

As Per the FCJ documention on your install CD, please be aware that Increasing RB settings within the FCJ Control Panel to much may have adverse reactions in your game, these may included heavy framerate loss at times, or even distorted or missing graphics. Try the included default settings in FCJ at first, then gradually make changes as needed.

As written in the FCJ documentation, With patches such as FCJ, they can put a heavy texture strain on the game, its important that users limit their texture memory to 2mb on Voodoo series cards, or if running the OpenGlide drivers, set your texture mem to 4 mb in the OpenGLid.ini file.
